Finally finished the Descender series, and I gotta say this is the best comics I’ve read in years. I own over a hundred graphic novel collections and have read many more, and this is just excellent- Nguyen’s art is consistently beautiful and expressive, and Lemire got me to cry over the emotions of a robot. Several memorable characters, a rich mythology that has lots of room to expand, and more. Cannot recommend it enough"

- A lot of creator-owned comics tend to run for 60 issues. Jeff Lemire ended his with #32 (this volume collects 27-32). A number of current books can be fairly described as Space Operas Saga, Invisible Republic and Descender all fit well in that genre.
Mr. Lemire created a nine world system with various factions. The series started 10 years after a near-cataclysmic event where giant robots (Harvesters) showed up and engaged in some destruction. Various groups on various planets adjusted differently. Set in a far away galaxy where the tech is much further along than Earth in the 2010s, computers and robots and AI are an even more ubiquitous and powerful force in Descender. There are pros and cons with this, obviously.
If you are reading this, I am assuming you have read the first five volumes so I won't provide any more background or presentation of characters.
Mr. Lemire has ended it well. And in a surprising fashion.
The art by Mr. Nguyen has been consistent and excellent throughout - he is the only artist that has worked on the series. - This is a review of the entirety of the Descender series, not just this volume

Several memorable characters, a rich mythology that has lots of room to expand, and more. Cannot recommend it enough - A fantastic conclusion to the story arc. This was emotionally and artistically satisfying. This has been an incredibly impressive series so far and I'm very excited about where the series will be picking up when it returns. Dustin Nguyen's art is fantastic.
- Now onto the next series part of this. the art in these books are really excellent, help make for a compelling story line. Highly recommend this series for the scifi buff in you.
- Lemire is one of the better writers in comics and Dustin Nguyen is a master illustrator. This was a cool ending to a quickly paced series and I can't wait for Ascender.
- Great closing chapter for Descender. A series surrounded in intrigue and mystery. What a great way to end it. Leaves more questions than answers and gives us hope for a future where mankind can achieve dreams beyond understanding.
- Love this series. The artwork is amazing and unique. Fun too look at even after reading everything. The story is also pretty cool but I love most Sci-fi stuff so I’m biased.
