"I didn't think I would enjoy this book as much as I did. The different characters taking the quilting class made the book even more enjoyable also helped me realize how many prejudices I still hold onto. I made assumptions about some of the students which turned out to be totally false. Just wish there were some quilting classes like these with the same teachers here in my part of the country. I think I would look forward to my lessons."

• This is the second book built around shattered, unhappy, and needy lives. Emma Yoder Miller was a widow who found her wonderful new husband in the last quilting class. Now she continues to run six week quilting classes, with her husband, for the people that God sends her. A strange group of people have found themselves beginning classes whether they want to or not.
  
  Anna is 18 and wants to experience life outside of her Amish community, but her mother has signed her up for this class in hope of keeping her from the Englishers. Selma was gifted with these classes by a neighbor who finds her abrasive attitudes in need of attention. Terry is a blue collar guy who sees a pretty girl in the class and decides to join in hopes of getting a date. Blain just lost a fishing bet and grudgingly goes to class as a looser. Carmen has her own secret motive, and Cheryl just wants her favorite grandmother's quilt mended and stays around for the class.
  
  This book takes this rag muffin group into the perfect place for them to learn that God is watching out for all his people, and has a plan for everyone to find joy in his presence within their own different and varied lives. Emma is the catalyst, and quilting is the means for great lessons and conversations about life, love, family and God. I really enjoy this series and hope it continues with more books.
• I love it because all generations are included. Also, different nationalities are represented. The story is about people of all kinds and personalities. It is beautifully read and easy to listen to, there is no annoying music in the background and it is quite engrossing. It adds a touch of humor, while it still maintains a firm grip on reality without touching on things that might be a little too depressing! It is a chance to get reaquainted with the first members of the cast and the story just seems to move right along. I do wish that I could have heard a little more about Star, I kinda took a liking to her character. She was mentioned, but thats all, just mentioned, I want details. Great stories both!!!! Oh,Oh,I guess I was sleeping during the bowling alley sequence, because Star was indeed very much present in The Tattered Quilt. I often listen to the audio books at bedtime, and it is quite obvious that I slept through the part where Star appeared. Please accept my most humble apologies!!!
• This is the second time I have read this book.. It is as good a second time. I can't say enough about it. You get to know all the characters really well. I have all 3books in this series and like everyone. I hope there might be a 4th down the road.
• After reading book 1 of the Tattered Quilt book series, I had a hard time waiting for book 2. I had no idea where the name of book 2 came from until I read 3/4 of it. Then I could understand the title. The ups and downs of people keep me guessing. It's hard to guess how a story will end with so many personalities. It's very enjoyable to have such loving, kind and helpful people like Emma and her husband. It gives the reader a warm and happy feeling.I can hardly wait for book 3, you can be sure I will read it. I have not read any book by Wanda Brunstetter that has not been enjoyable and worth while to read. She is on my list of authors to read as many of her books that I can buy.
• Wanda E. Brunstetter is a dependable author. Her books are good Windows into the life of the Amish. This series of books focus a lot on the "English" (the nonAmish ) more than any of her other works that I've read. It was interesting to see how she wove the two lives together.
  I have only one problem with Brunstetter's writing; it is that sometimes things aren't consistent. She may refer to something being one way in one part of the story only to have it be something different later in the book. It can be distracting but easy to overlook.
• this story combines Wanda's typical Amish scenario with "English" folk who each have a troubling situation or issue of his or her own. They come together (for different reasons) in an Amish home for a quilting class. And, as the class progresses, due to the Amish couple's quiet wisdom, combined with the student's own interaction among themselves, each person's troubles are addressed and resolved. By the end of the book, there is a happy ending for all (perhaps a couple of them were wrapped up a bit hastily in the last few paragraphs), but overall, it makes me wish I'd have picked up the book's predecessor first, and I'll probably go back and read it, despite knowing some of the outcomes which were mentioned in this book.

• I've read other stories by Wanda Bustetter that I absolutely loved and this one did not disappoint. The story is very believable and well written. The love shown throughout between Emma and Lamar is sweet but not something you read a lot about between people of the Amish faith. It's nice to see that it is an aspect that can be accepted in their culture. The way the characters evolve is tremendous! If you love a good, clean love story you need to read this one.
