Blood Rites Book 2 in the Grey Wolves Series Volume 2 Quinn Loftis Rachel Carr Books Reviews
- Blood Rites by Quinn Loftis is book two of Prince of Wolves. Jacque, Jen, and Sally are back, in full force! It’s time for Jacque and Fane’s Blood Rites ceremony, but things can’t be that easy. On the way to the ceremony, everything implodes and Fane is left screaming for his unconscious mate.
PS spoilers if you haven’t read earlier books in the series!
Jacque’s father gets involved, after hearing about her and Fane’s relationship. As an alpha himself, putting his fingers in the pie opens up a whole basket of worms. Especially after there’s a scheme involving Jacque that may take her out of Fane’s life forever, if it succeeds. Fane, Jen, and Sally are determined that will never happen, and they go to battle for their friend’s freedom.
Of course, there’s a new love interest introduced. Decebel and Jen are the match that defines stubborn, head butting. But Decebel can’t claim her without mating signs, and Jen isn’t showing. So they continue to taunt, in true Jen fashion loudly and with lots of unfulfilled sexual innuendoes.
I love Jen, as a character, and matching her to Decebel was true genius by author Quinn Loftis. Decebel is the match for loud, boisterous Jen, and never backs down from her challenge. They may butt heads, but they’re a team through and through. - Blood Rites Jacque and Fane and gain must deal with yet another psycho wolf and new oppositions to their mating. Sparks beginning flying between another unexpected couple. Blood Rites is a darker story than Prince of Wolves, with much more violence and some really funny moments to give you a break from all the bad coming your way when you read this story.
There is a great deal to love about this book, you have the outspoken Jen, who really needs a filter but I am so glad she doesn’t have said filter. You have Jacgue, who, though very much out spoken like her friend Jen, tends to be a bit more tactful. Then you have Sally, who can verbally stand up for herself, keeps her friends grounded. I think my absolute favorite scene was when Lilly slapped Dillon, the whole scene was hilarious. Oh, wait then the was the Jen gets drunk scene from start to finish that had my highly entertained as well.
The only thing I really didn’t like about Blood Rites was the edits, if not for those this story would be getting a five-star rating. There were a number of what appears to be typos and a few sentences that have missing words. With the number of edits, I found my star rating was reduced to a two-star rating.

Laura Lu's Book Reviews - Since I just binged on the entire grey wolf and gypsy series, I'm just going to copy and paste this message. It is well worth the read, the characters are great, the villains are evil and the heroines are not damsels in distressed waiting around for their big bad wolves to rescue them. Quinn writes with flare and energy, with vibrance and realism and above all with a rhythm that makes you just swiftly jump into the next book, and the next and the next and then you are crying because the next one is not out yet. So if you want a great story that will stay with you and doesn't forget the characters from the previous books (like many series tend to do) do read these series they are totally worth the laughs, cries and emotions that will pour out of you.
- Ok, first I want to say that the book needs a little editing. Sorry, but it’s a fact. Other than that, my biggest complaint is that there were a couple inconsistencies such as what knowledge is known by whom and when. However, those inconsistencies and the editing issues are NOT a big enough problem to detract from the story itself.
With that all out of the way, I can now say that I loved this book! I have an infant so you can imagine that sleep is precious. I stayed up until one in the morning anyway unable to put this one down! It held me completely enthralled and I just couldn’t let it go. It doesn’t stand very well on its own, so not only do I recommend reading book one first – I recommend reading the books back to back. I didn’t and it took its toll at the very beginning, but I soon got back into the groove again.
The good guys are all loveable, and the villain is truly monstrous. My emotions were all over the place. I was laughing frequently and smiling at Fane and Jacque, then crying later. Some of the events are heart wrenching but also authentic feeling (as much as they can be in a paranormal world). *Mild spoiler alert.* There’s a captivity scene that is awful (though could be worse), and its emotional damage felt so real…
If you’re looking for a an exciting series containing alpha werewolves and a soul deep love, with comic relief in the form of three snarky teenagers, check out this awesome series!
